This weekend is going to be a vibrant one at the Falling Rock Cafe and Bookstore as Memorial Day is finally upon us. Not only will there be two nights of live local music, there will be two special items on the menu sure to offer a genuine taste of the region. For the holiday, we are also extending our hours from 7a-10p on Saturday/Sunday and 7a-8p on Monday.
U.P. favorites, Smoked Whitefish and Veggie and/or Beef Pasties will be the fresh local items gracing the menu this weekend. Both have a rich history in the region and are a "must taste" for anyone visiting Munising or passing through.
Saturday evening, The Maynard Brothers return after many years away. As founding members of the Silver Creek Band, they played throughout the Upper Peninsula in the '80s and early '90s. Now, as a duo or with friends, they plan on bringing their '50s/'60s rock and roll set to Falling Rock.
On Sunday Andrew Short returns with his acoustic guitar to the U.P.. He graduated from the University of Michigan earlier this month and will be attending Michigan State College of Human Medicine this fall. He is a Marquette native, and has loved playing music at local venues in the Upper Peninsula over the past 5-6 years. He says music helps to maintain the balance of his academic career, and it has connected him with many new friends over the years. He hopes you will join him at his favorite Upper Peninsula coffee shop to hear some of his original and cover songs.
We wish everyone safe travels and an enjoyable holiday weekend.
